Substituting fossil fuel with hydrogen promises a low-carbon economy as it burns cleanly and provides clean electricity through the fuel cell. A key technology is the sustainable production of hydrogen from solar energy and water via photovoltaic-based electrolysis and photoelectrochemical cell (PEC), but techno-economic assessment calls for cheaper catalyst and electrode materials to compete with fossil-fuel-based economy. Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is a well-known structure sensitive process, thus the nanoscale design of the surface can promote higher activity. In this…

Design Criteria of Advanced Nanomaterials from the Basic Understanding of Thermal Energy Storage Mechanisms Abstract Despite the strong request from the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) industry, the design and synthesis of new materials with enhanced heat capacity is still suffering from the lack of a fundamental knowledge on the heat capacity enhancement mechanisms although, experimentally, a lot of effort is made, specially on nano-materials (NMs). The emphasis on NMs is due to the fact that, in our days, nano-structuring is…
