Böer Solar Energy Medal of Merit Award

Vasilis Fthenakis, Columbia University

Photovoltaics Sustainability Perspectives and Insights for Future Paths: Dr. Fthenakis will discuss lessons learned from decades of research on PV sustainability, pathways for a much-needed clean energy transition, sustainable scaling-up of photovoltaics manufacturing and deployment, and new market opportunities in clean and sustainable water and hydrogen productions.

Böer Renewable Energy Mid-Career Award

Anke Weidenkaff, Fraunhofer Institute for Materials Recycling & Resource Strategies

Green Materials for Green Technologies: Climate change, pollution and the dependence on fossil fuels from unacceptable partners require an immediate defossilisation plan. But the renewable “green” energy conversion technologies we develop must be based on green materials defined by a holistic life cycle assessment. For the implementation of intelligent green chemistry and production processes, an efficient circularity of the renewable energy converters with a programmable lifetime and regeneration will be introduced in this talk.
